SES Engineering Services appoints new Midlands and South West Regional Director

Steve_Tovey__1Leading national engineering specialist, SES Engineering Services (SES), has strengthened its senior Midlands and South West team as it continues its rapid growth in the region, with the appointment of Steve Tovey as Regional Director.

Steve joins SES after a 40-year long career at Haden Young, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services and its offsite manufacturing facility, Modular Systems+ and most recently its Kilpatrick mechanical and electrical (M&E) division.

Based at SES’ Birmingham offices, Steve will be responsible for leading the dynamic implementation of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services specialist’s £300m growth strategy across the regions.
The business continues to see rapid expansion in the region and deliver stand-out projects across energy from waste, residential, commercial and science and research sectors based on the ongoing success of its industry-leading in-house digital engineering department.

As part of his new role at SES, the UK’s first M&E specialist to achieve full BIM Level 2 accreditation, Steve will also oversee the continued expansion of SES’ pioneering Prism offsite manufacturing business in the regions.
Steve comments: “SES really is ahead of the game when it comes to complex technical projects and embracing emerging digital engineering practices. After 40 years, in which I’ve seen the M&E sector be transformed beyond belief by innovation first-hand, SES is a truly exciting place to be.

“As the industry embraces digital engineering and offsite manufacturing, we will ultimately be judged by our performance.

“There is a real desire to grow the business in both the Midlands and South West regions, pushing the boundaries with a market-leading commitment to digital engineering, with our dynamic three-year growth plan in place; I’m very much looking forward to working with the teams.”

SES’ Managing Director, Jason Knights commented: “We welcome Steve to the team and he joins us at a very exciting time for the business as it goes from strength to strength both in these regions and nationally.

“Steve brings substantial knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the business and we are confident that through the ongoing implementation of our regional growth strategy, we can continue to build on our impressive portfolio of high-profile projects under his guidance.”

SES is currently delivering a £43m contract on the new £300m Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) at the Stanford Hall estate near Loughborough.

Working alongside main contractor Interserve, the international support services and construction group, SES is providing full mechanical and electrical (M&E) services to deliver a purpose-built, state of the art clinical facility for the Armed Forces when it becomes operational in 2018.
